Re: My father, John L. Fuhs was on the LCI Flotilla Flagship 624 apparently close by the Orestes when attacked. According to one account, LCI 624 pulled along side Orestes and 3 men went aboard to help put out the fire after the attack. My father was Signalman 3rd Class on 624 but I know at times he was stationed on the ship's cannon. I can find very little about his ship online. He like most others did not talk much about these experiences and I know most from what he told my mother as he passed on in 1992.
