Response To General Truscott's Recommendation

Attempting to locate response to General Truscott's recommendation that the language of WD Circular #186 be broaden or interpreted to permit the award if the Infantryman Combat Badge to members of the 36th Engineer Combat Regiment, otherwise qualified,and that such awards be made at the earlist practicable date in recognition of fine infantry service.

(Obviously a typographical error...Combat Infantryman Badge CIB).

More recent General Orders awarding the CIB to a substantial list of officers assigned to the 540th Engineer Regiment only proves that the recommendation was approved.

It is vital to locate the document due to WWII veterans being denied today contrary to an earlier WD Circular.
