USS ORESTES

My father RICHARD F PROST was aboard the USS Orestes when it was hit by a suicide bomber plane on Dec 30 1944,, He was not injured but forever lamented the deaths of men he knew on the ship.He would get tears in his eyes 40 years later when he spoke of the incident.He died in 1988 and was one of the greatest generation.
